An arrest has been made and drugs have been seized in Huddersfield.

Officers from the Huddersfield Town Centre Proactive Team conducted a high visibility drugs dog patrol at the town’s bus station on Thursday.

Police stop searched 12 people who the dog suspected of carrying illegal substances and made three seizures of Class B drugs, with persons involved dealt with.

A man was also arrested for assaulting a female passenger on a bus and then further assaulting a PCSO.

PC James Hemsley of the Town Centre Proactive Team, said: “We know passengers and people using the bus station have had real concerns about anti-social behaviour there and have been working hard at the location to reduce criminality.

“Persons catching a bus should be able to do so without concern about crime, and we will continue these operations for as long as necessary to ensure they can.

“They include our plain clothes patrols who could be there at any time, with additional support also provided from a dedicated safer Travel Team PSCO who works from the area.
