Man arrested over death of woman in Leeds hit and run

West Yorkshire Police are questioning a man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a woman died at Middleton.

Officers first received reports of an incident taking place on Thorpe Lane close to the junction of Redbarn Close, at 9:47 p.m. on Friday evening (June 28th).

When police arrived at the scene they found a 35-year-old woman who had been involved in a collision with a blue Volkswagen Golf R.

The car had been travelling in the direction of Robin Hood and failed to stop at the scene.

Emergency services gave the woman immediate medical treatment, but despite their best efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A car believed to be the one involved in the crash was recovered this morning and man aged 29 has been arrested.

A second man, aged 31, has been detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police continue to appeal for any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, to come forward.
