Woman in her twenties dies after dog attack in Caterham

A woman has died and another is being treated in hospital following reports of a dog attack in Caterham, Surrey.
Police were called to Gravelly Hill at 2:45pm yesterday afternoon (12 January) after reports fo a dog attacking members of the public.
Armed officers attended the scene, with support from the National Police Air Service, detained a total of seven dogs which are now in police custody.
One woman, who was in her twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene and a second woman is in hospital being treated for dog bites.
Her condition is not believed to be life threatening.
Currently, police are still in attendance at the scene, and several road closures are in place.
Chief Inspector Alan Sproston said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who sadly died this afternoon.
“This incident will be concerning to the local community and I would like to reassure them that we believe all dogs have been accounted for and are in police custody.
“Our investigation to establish the circumstances of the incident remains ongoing and we would ask the community not to speculate.”
