A West Midlands Police officer is to appear in court charged with assaulting a 12-year-old boy.
Pc Sharanjit Kaur is charged with assaulting the schoolboy during an incident in Great King Street North in Birmingham.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said it happened while he was off duty on October 13 last year.
Pc Kaur, 41, will appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with one count of assault by beating.
The IOPC said that its investigation into the incident began last year after a mandatory conduct referral by West Midlands Police.
Following the investigation, charges were filed against the officer in March by the Crown Prosecution Service.
The IOPC said on Wednesday that it had been advised by West Midlands Police that Pc Kaur is suspended while proceedings continue.
