Two people die in fatal crash in Tetney Lock as car submerged in water

Police in Lincolnshire have confirmed two people have died following a fatal collision that left a car submerged in water.
The two victims, a 16-year-old boy and a 40-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene when first responders arrived in the town of Tetney Lock.
A statement from the force said they were appealing for information following the crash, which was first reported to officers just after 1:30pm on Saturday (January 6th).
First reports to the collision said that a blue Mercedes 300 had come off the road and was soon submerged in water on the Tetney Lock Road.
"Emergency services, including police, crews from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, and EMAS (East Midlands Ambulance Service) were immediately dispatched, and support was also provided by colleagues at Humberside Police," the statement read.
"Sadly, a 16-year-old boy and 40-year-old man in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. Their next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers."
Police closed the road as they rushed to recover the car and establish the cause of the collision, with diversions being put in place at the junctions of Tetney Lock Road, New Delights and Hoop End.
Following initial enquiries from the emergency services and the operation to retrieve the car and the two victims, the road was reopened at 3am on Sunday morning (January 8th).
Officers are now appealing for information from anyone who may have been driving in the area in the run-up to the incident.
Specifically, Lincolnshire Police are asking for anyone who might have seen the car driving before the incident and have relevant dashcam footage.
Anyone who was driving at the Laceby crossroad junction in Lacey, Grimsby and the surrounding areas which go towards Tetney Lock Road between 12:30pm and 1:33pm is being urged to contact police immediately.
