Scunthorpe United have announced they're to leave their Glanford Park stadium as the club's owner says he's to pull all his funding out of the club.

It follows a series of problems for the Iron.

The statement on the club's website says Chairman David Hilton now feels his position is untenable and he's looking for a way out.

Two other board members have also resigned.

The club is now looking to set up a way for making their operation sustainable.

They'll use Gainsborough Trinity's ground to fulfil fixtures shortly

It means they will leave Glanford Park after the Brackley match on October 7th.

It follows a dispute over the ground.

They say they will be using Gainsborough Trinity's ground to fulfil the rest of their fixtures.

But the club have disputed the statement issued by Scunthorpe.

"Gainsborough Trinity FC are aware of a statement issued today by Scunthorpe United. This statement was issued without the knowledge or consent of Gainsborough Trinity. Whilst the club has always been clear that any requests from Scunthorpe United to play fixtures at the KAL Group Stadium would be considered, this would always have to be done by due process which would involve both clubs and the ground owner."

Scunthorpe United says a lot of groups have contacted them with interest in taking over but problems such as issues with the stadium and financial matters seems to stopped them going further.

They say that applies to a consortium of local business people and supporters.

Cutbacks are likely to affect the playing budget

However the Chairman and the board have set out a plan.

In addition to moving out of the stadium an outside company is being brought in to work with the club's creditors.

On a more optimistic note the statement says they believe they CAN challenge for promotion this season after encouraging results so far this season .

However that has to be balanced against them also saying cutbacks will impact the playing squad.
