Police in Northamptonshire are appealing for information and witnesses following a fatal house fire near Kettering.

Officers were alerted to an incident taking place at a house on Beswick Close in the nearby town of Rushton at around 10:30pm on Friday night (March 29th), with reports saying there had been a large fire at the property.

A major response from emergency services was prompted - with ambulances and fire and rescue services attending the fire.

Following the fire, it was confirmed that three people were killed as a result of the fire, with another three police officers needing to be taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

Several roads leading to the area have been closed off, particularly on Station Road, between Desborough Road and Oakley Road.

Labour MP for Kettering Rosie Wrighting said she was also thinking of those who attended the scene, adding that she was "saddened" by the incident.

Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service have since launched an investigation into the incident, and enquiries are now underway.

Motorists are being told to avoid the area if at all possible, while investigations take place into the incident.
