Investigation launched after man dies by sluice gate in Reydon
Officers found the car following the fatal collision on Saturday afternoon
Suffolk Police are investigating after the body of a man was found in his car by a sluice gate in Reydon.
Officers were initially alerted to a serious collision taking place on the A1095 Halesworth Road at around 2:55pm on Saturday (December 14th).
Following lines of enquiry, it was established the car had left the A1095 and crashed, being found upside down next to the sluice gate with the driver dead inside.
Emergency services rushed to the scene to help retrieve the car, including the Coast Guard, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service and the East of England Ambulance Service.
Whilst the rescue operation was ongoing, the nearby A12 and Mardle Roads were closed to help emergency services focus their operations to recover the vehicle.
The operation lasted overnight and was eventually completed at around 6:15am on Sunday morning (December 15th), with the A1095, A12 and Mardle Roads all reopened to the public.
Suffolk Police are now appealing to the public to come forward with any information that could help in their investigation.
Anyone who was driving through the area between midnight and 11am on Saturday is being asked to get in touch as soon as possible.
Specifically, those who may have had dashcam footage of their journey during this time is particularly welcomed.
