Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a break-in at a house near Lowestoft over the weekend during which an elderly woman was fatally injured.

82 year old Joy Middleditch passed away at the James Paget Hospital on Monday after being found injured at her home on Grayson Avenue in Pakefield on Saturday.

It's believed two people broke into her home late last Friday (March 24) or early on Saturday (March 25). A handbag was stolen.

82 year old Joy Middleditch has been described as " a strong, determined character who loved life"

A 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, both from the Lowestoft area, were arrested earlier today and are currently being questioned at Martlesham Police station.

The cause of Joy's death is yet to be confirmed, although a post mortem was carried out on Monday (March 27).

Paying tribute earlier this week, Joy's family said: “Joy was a strong, determined character who loved life and her dog.

“She was a loving person who was sadly taken from us too soon.

“We as a family would like to thank the police and the community for all their help and support.”
