Dean Smith has been announced as the new manager of Norwich City football club.

The former Aston Villa boss replaces Daniel Farke, who lost his job on Saturday 6 November, just hours after the Canaries secured their first Premier League win of the season.

Smith, who's agreed a two and a half year deal, will be assisted by Craig Shakespeare.

Farke, who was appointed back in 2017 having been in charge of Borussia Dortmund's reserve team, led the team to Championship victory in 2019.

They then finished bottom in the Premier League the following season, before making an immediate return to the top-flight again as champions.

They have again struggled in the Premier League, though, and remain bottom of the table, despite last week's win.

Farke had been under increasing pressure after the Canaries failed to win any of their opening 10 games in the top flight this term.

Backroom staff Eddie Riemer, Chris Domogalla and Christopher John have all also left the club.
