A murder investigation is underway in Luton after three people were killed.

Bedfordshire Police were called to Leabank, off Wauluds Bank Drive at 5:30am this morning.

Three people were found with injuries at a flat after reports concerning their welfare, they all were pronounced dead at the scene.

An 18-year-old man was arrested shortly after in Bramingham Road and is in custody for questioning.

A murder investigation has now been launched by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit.

Detective Superintendent Rob Hall has described the incident as "truly appalling" resulting in "the tragic deaths of three people".

Officers will now be working "tirelessly" to establish the full circumstances.

Det Supt Hall said: “One man has been arrested in connection with the incident and we do not believe there is any threat to the wider community. However, we appreciate people will be concerned, so there will be an increased presence of community police officers in and around the area today and over the coming days to answer questions and provide reassurance.”
