Armed police called to incident in Middlesex hospital

The Met Police say one man has been arrested.

Armed police officers have responded to an incident at a north west London hospital.

The Met Police say they were called at 1.18pm to reports that two people had been stabbed.

The first victim has life threatening injuries, while the second has non-life threatening injuries.

They also confirmed that a man has been arrested and he is being treated for injuries believed to be self-inflicted.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:

“We were called today (21 June) at 1:18pm to reports of an incident at Central Middlesex Hospital.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic, two ambulance crews, a medic in a fast response car, and members of our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART). We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“Our teams treated three people at the scene and took them to hospital.”

Incident not being treated as terror-related

Officers will remain in the hospital as further searches are conducted, but say at this time they are satisfied that no one else is sought.

Police are working to establish the circumstances. At this time the incident is not being treated as terror-related.

In a statement they say;

"The hospital was temporarily locked down but has now re-opened and will be operating services as normal. There is a heightened police presence at the hospital while we investigate."

A spokesman for the hospital trust said: "We can confirm an incident took place at Central Middlesex Hospital this afternoon.

"Police are on site and the hospital was temporarily locked down for a short period of time as a precautionary measure.

"Working closely with the Metropolitan Police, we have now reopened the hospital and services will continue as normal."
