Two men convicted of manslaughter of father-of-two in Ladywood
Ali Salih Abdalaah died in 2022 after being beaten to death in a hallway
Two men have been convicted of the murder of a man in Ladywood in October of 2022, following a lengthy court case.
Dale Berry-Parkes and Hardi Hamad appeared in court charged with the murder of Ali Salih Abdalaah.
On October 8th 2022, Abdalaah, 36, was found dead after being beaten to death in a hallway in a property at the Brecon Tower in Guild Close.
During the trial, it was revealed that Ali had met a woman at around 6:20 a.m. and had taken her back to his flat.
At 9am later that day, the woman had told Berry-Parkes and Hardi Hamad about the meeting, claiming that he had sexually assaulted her.
Following this, the two men were able to track Abdalaah down to his home address and fatally attacked him when he opened the door to both of them.
CCTV footage from after the attack showed the pair walking towards Ali's red Kia car, with Berry-Parkes throwing the keys to the car to Hamad.
The pair then drove off in Ali's car, as well as the Peugeot car that they had arrived to scene in. Both cars were later discovered a few days later with false plates.
Four days after the attack, both Hamad and Berry-Parkes handed themselves into police, and were arrested on suspicion of murder.
After a trial lasting three weeks, the men were found guilty of the manslaughter of Ali. Berry-Parkes was convicted of his manslaughter, whilst Hamad pleaded guilty by diminished responsibility.
Both men were remanded in police custody and will be sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court at a later date.
Ali's family paid tribute to him, saying that Abdalaah was “a very hard working, happy and kind man."
"He was a loving father who dedicated his life to his children. He loved to work within the community, volunteering to help those less fortunate than himself.
"Our lives have been shattered. As a family and community particularly his young children, we are all devastated by his death which has changed our children’s lives forever.”
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Harrison, from West Midlands Police's Homocide Unit, said of the convictions: "Two children have been left without a father due to the appalling actions of Hamad and Berry-Parkes.
“The men launched a horrific senseless attack on Mr Abdalaah on the doorstep of his home. I hope this conviction brings some closure to Ali’s family following their tragic loss. Our thoughts remain with them."
