The King visits Southport to meet local community and emergency services
It follows the knife attack in the town on the 29 of July, which killed three young girls
His Majesty The King is visiting Southport today to express his continued support for those affected by the 29 July knife attack, and the riot which followed in the town.
This engagement will follow a private meeting with some of those affected by the attack, during which three young girls were killed.
The meeting will include some of the surviving children who were present at the Hart Space Community Centre, and their families.
His Majesty will also meet representatives from Merseyside’s emergency services and local community groups.
On arrival at Southport Community Fire Station, The King will be met by regional leaders including the Mayors of the Liverpool City Region and Sefton, Steve Rotheram and Councillor June Burns; Mr Patrick Hurley, MP for Sefton and Sefton Council Leader, Marion Atkinson.
Inside, His Majesty will hear from staff representing Merseyside’s Police, Fire and Rescue and Ambulance services about their roles responding to recent events and protecting people in the area.
His Majesty will also meet local groups impacted by the violent disorder in Southport, including faith leaders.
