President Joe Biden has pulled out of the race to be the next US President.

He announced the end of his candidacy just four months before the country goes to the polls.

In a letter posted to his social media account, he said it had been the greatest honour of his life to serve as president.

“And while it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling the duties as President for the remainder of my term”.

The President quickly followed his letter up with an endorsement of his Vice-President Kamala Harris to be the next Democrat nomination for President:

The Presidential election will take place on November 5th.
