It's a dream many of us will have never had but it's now something we can do in real life.

The Newcastle bakers has teamed up with department story Fenwick to collaborate on an unforgettable experience.

Last year the pair launched Bistro Greggs at Fenwick Newcastle, which saw over 8,000 covers within the one-month period, the two North East institutions are teaming up to launch Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick.

This unique dining experience will pair the nation’s favourite bakes and rolls with a selection of the finest Champagnes in a concept that promises to be the city’s hottest new destination in the lead up to Christmas.

The brand-new Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick will launch TODAY (24th October) and run until 31st December, residing in Fenwick’s spectacular Food Hall. The experience will be open between 11:30am until store closing on a reservation-only basis for customers to enjoy.

The indulgent menu, specially created by Fenwick Executive Head Chef Mark Reid in collaboration with Greggs, will see the leading food-on-the-go retailer’s classic savoury menu served with a delicious range of contemporary and “in vogue” condiments. With over 1,700 Steak Bakes sold at Bistro Greggs last December, this year’s menu sees it served with a creamy peppercorn aioli. The famous Sausage, Bean & Cheese Melt is taken to new culinary heights with the pairing of Bloody Mary ketchup, and the nation’s favourite Sausage Roll has been revamped with the pairing of a hot honey chilli sauce.

For the first time, Champagne enthusiasts can pair their delicious bakes and rolls with a selection of the finest, handpicked Champagnes served by the glass or bottle including Bollinger Rosé and Laurent Perrier with the prestigious Louis Roederer Cristal available at £75 per glass, or £425 by the bottle. The Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick is the first place, and only place, within the region to offer this exclusive Champagne menu “by the glass”.

But the menu doesn’t stop there. For a sweet finish, there is also a host of signature cocktails inspired by Greggs’ iconic sweet treats. Diners can enjoy a “Yum Yum Twist”, a sweet, sugar-glazed cocktail crafted with rum and real Yum Yums, a “Cream Éclair” which features vanilla vodka and dark chocolate liqueur, and a non-alcoholic “Peach Melba” cocktail. Fans of last year’s Bistro Greggs signature “Pink Jammie Fizz” will be delighted with the return to this year’s menu in collaboration with Mother Mercy.

The design of The Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick pays homage to the Belle Epoque era, a period in French history characterised by beauty and joy. The space has been designed to feel decadent, mirroring Art Nouveau stylised details throughout. The Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick will seat 16 customers around a curved bar, synonymous with 1900’s Paris, as guests sip from bespoke Sausage Roll etched Champagne coupes. Guests can also ring vintage, crystal bells for a top-up of their tipple!

The launch of Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick is built upon the success of Bistro Greggs where customers reveled in the extravagant menu, with some enjoying a break from Christmas shopping, and others celebrating wedding anniversaries and birthdays.

The experience was dubbed “a clever and perfect Northern combination of Greggs and Fenwick” by customers following their reservations. With one customer commenting “Bistro Greggs was above and beyond our expectations, the food and service were superb” in addition to “please do this again, we would love to come back!”.

Leo Fenwick, Strategic Partnerships Director at Fenwick commented: “After the phenomenal success of last year’s Bistro Greggs at Fenwick, we are proud to once again partner with the fellow North East icon, Greggs, to launch Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick offering a fun and truly unique costumer experience. This pop-up enhances our growing restaurant offer which continues to evolve through unexpected collaborations and new concepts bringing customers a truly memorable in-store dining experience.”

Hannah Squirrell, Customer Director at Greggs said: “Whilst Champagne and Greggs might not be the most immediate food and drink pairing, following the success and reaction to our Greggs Bistro last year, we're excited for the launch of the Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick. Hopefully everyone who visited us last year, and many more, will enjoy the fun and unique experience that’s been created and discover that a chilled glass of Champagne accompanied by a Sausage Roll will be the hottest ticket in Toon for 2024.”

Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick will be open daily from 11:30AM to 6PM Monday to Saturday (excl Thursdays), 7PM Thursday and 4 PM Sundays at Fenwick Newcastle, Ground Floor, 39 Northumberland St, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 7AS.
