Chelsea has lost against Liverpool in the 2022 Emirates FA Cup Final, after Liverpool won the penalty shoot-out.

The game finished as a goalless draw after normal and extra time, but the Blues lost 6-5 to the Reds on penalties.

This year marked the 150th anniversary year of the world’s original knockout competition, finishing with the reds celebrating their win of the famous trophy at Wembley Stadium.

Chelsea missed its second penalty taken by Cesar Azplicueta, while Sadio Mane missed Liverpool’s fifth.

But after Alisson Becker saved Mason Mount's penalty kick, Kostas Tsimikas made the winning goal for Liverpool.

The last match was Chelsea’s 16th appearance in the final for the cup and Liverpool’s 15th.

This year marked the third consecutive year that the Blues have missed out on the FA Cup trophy, while Liverpool celebrate their eighth win.

This final game was the second time the two teams have met in the final for the FA cup, with Chelsea winning 2-1 in 2012.

The Blues and the Reds have met four times this season, the other three matches ended level but Liverpool took home the League cup after penalties in February.

Chelsea is expected to complete a sale and have a new owner by 31st May, as this is when the Blues’ temporary license expires.

The path remains open for Boehly and his winning consortium to purchase the club well in advance of the deadline.

He could even take charge before the end of the season and be there to close their Premier League campaign.

Abramovich put Chelsea up for sale on March 2 amid Russia's continued invasion of Ukraine.

The 55-year-old was then sanctioned by the UK Government on March 10, with Downing Street claiming to have proven the Russian-Israeli billionaire's links to Vladimir Putin.
