The man who was injured in an incident involving a van in Cardiff last month has died.

54-year-old Mark Lang - from the Cyncoed area of the city - was his by his own van on North Road on March 28.

He was rushed to University Hospital of Wales - where he later passed away.

The day after the incident in March, Detective Chief Inspector Matt Powell from South Wales Police said: “At 12.49pm yesterday March 28, South Wales Police received a report of a driver failing to stop at a road traffic collision on North Road, Cardiff.

“We can now confirm that the van was a delivery vehicle stolen from nearby Laytonia Avenue while the victim was delivering parcels in the street.

“During the theft, it is believed the van collided with the owner who has then been carried by the vehicle for a considerable distance until it came to a halt on North Road."

Mark's partner has paid tribute to him following his death.

His partner said: “It's difficult to put into words quite how any of us are feeling. I don't think we can ever get over something so brutal and ultimately pointless.

“Our thanks go out to all the emergency services who did their best to bring him back to us, the people on the scene who rallied around him and called for help, and all the staff at the Heath who made sure his final days were comfortable and who worked tirelessly to help him and the family. Throughout all of this it has been comforting to see so much love and support from so many people who knew Mark. Friends, colleagues, old teammates as well as customers and their dogs.

“We've been inundated with nice words and if we noticed it we spoke to him about it. Assume he was aware of your kind words and very happy to hear them. Mark was a good man, with a lot of love to give. He passed in the early hours of the morning surrounded by family. Peacefully. Comfortably. Loved

“He will be sorely missed. X”

A 31 year old man's previously been charged by South Wales Police in connection with what happened.
