A woman has been arrested by police in Oxfordshire in connection with an incident involving dangerous dogs.

Officers were called to Hanwell Fields near St Peter's Church in Banbury on Wednesday (March 26th), when a dog - believed to be of a dangerous breed - attacked another dog.

The canine that had been attacked in the incident was eventually pronounced dead as a result of the incident.

Thames Valley Police have since arrested a woman in her 30s from the Banbury area on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

As well as this, she was also arrested on suspicion of being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control.

In their arrest, officers went on to seize two different dogs as part of their investigation, which remains ongoing.

In a previous update, the force said the two dogs were both suspected to be XL bullies, but enquiries were ongoing to discern the breed.

According to the police, the woman has since been bailed and the enquiries into the attack are now ongoing.
