Police arrested man over claims he was wielding an axe in Stockton

A man's been arrested after armed police were called to reports of a man wielding an axe in Stockton.
Officers say it happened on Edmondbyers Road last night (15 May).
A 50-year-old's been detained on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
A statement from Cleveland Police reads:
'At around 9.25pm on Wednesday (15 May ), police were called to reports of a man armed with an axe on Edmondsbyers Road in Stockton.
'Officers, including armed response, swiftly attended to the area and arrested the 50-year-old on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He is currently in police custody for questioning.'
