A second closure in August of a home on a Middlesbrough road has been granted.

Teesside Magistrates Court gave permission for the property on Monkland Close to be boarded up on Thursday.

It follows complaints about anti-social behaviour and drug dealing.

Cleveland Police attended the house and boarded it up, and evicted the tenants living there.

The closure of another property on Monkland Close was authorised on 2 August.

Sergeant Danielle Gibson, from Middlesbrough's Neighbourhood Policing Team, said she hoped the closure orders will "bring reassurance" to local residents and the wider community.

"To help us to continue to take this positive action I would urge anyone experiencing any issues with these types of offences to get in touch with officers as soon as possible."

Middlesbrough Council's Executive member for Community Safety, Janet Thompson, said there is "no place in our communities for drug dealing and antisocial behaviour."

"We will use all the means at our disposal to stamp them out on behalf of law-abiding residents.

"This house closure is a great example of that approach, and we will continue to work hand in hand with Cleveland Police and other partners to drive these people out of decent neighbourhoods blighted by their blatant criminality."
