A Bollywood-themed fireworks finale is going to light up the skies of Middlesbrough later.

The free family festival returns to Centre Square today (Saturday 2nd November) from 12pm to 6pm, featuring a professionally choreographed musical and pyrotechnic show set to popular Bollywood music.

In addition to the firework finale, main stage music and dance weill see headline act Muki & Haseeb Haze perform for the first time in Middlesbrough.

Diwali in Middlesbrough producer Kash Patel said: “Diwali is also known as the Festival of Light and is traditionally celebrated with firecrackers and fireworks, so in much the same way we will culminate our event with a professional firework finale that will light up the local landscape.

“It’s great that Middlesbrough residents can come out with their friends and family to enjoy a colourful and vibrant event without it costing an arm and a leg. To have an all-day event that is completely free of charge with food, funfair and fireworks is definitely worth shouting about.”

Alongside the entertainment, visitors can enjoy freshly cooked Indian street food, fashion and fabric vendors and henna artists.

And there is plenty to keep the kids entertained with workshops and funfair rides.

Diwali in Middlesbrough is brought to you by the team behind the Mela with the support of sponsors Unison, Thirteen Housing and Teesside University.
