A consignment of pet hairdryers has been seized at the Port of Felixstowe, after it was found they could catch fire or electrocute users.

Around 700 of the devices were intercepted at the port by Suffolk Trading Standards earlier this month.

The agency says the wiring within the produce os 'poorly constucted', with 'inadequate earthing' and exposed conductors.

The shipment was due to be delivered to Staffordshire but will now be destroyed.

An Amazon listing for the dryers, produced by a company called Suzhou Lan Tun Pet Products Co LTD, has now been taken down.
