Two London men have been jailed for over five years in connection with a series of robberies and attempted robberies in Lowestoft.

All of the crimes were committed on August 30 2022. At around 9pm two teenage boys were threatened in a park off Raglan Street by two men wearing balaclavas.

The boys offered to handover their phones, with one of them offering to retrieve an iPhone 7 from a nearby address.

After stealing the iPhone, the pair also stole a bike.

At around 9:30pm the same evening the pair rode into the Britten Centre on the stolen bike and approached another group of young people, demanding they hand over a phone.

They took the phone but later dropped it.

Around the same time another teenage boy was threatened and punched, and then had an iPhone XR stolen.

Both suspects were later identified via CCTV footage and arrested.

20 year old Muhamadu Conte of Lancaster Drive in the Borough of Havering was jailed for 35 months at Ipswich Crown Court last week (April 20).

18 year old Isaiah Lester of Cranberry Close in the Borough of Ealing was jailed for 31 months. He was also handed a further 18 months for possession with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

PC Ian McBrearty, of Suffolk Constabulary, said: "Robbery is a violent crime that can have a lasting impact on victims.

“Lester and Conte targeted teenage boys, threatening to hurt them if their phones were not handed over. This would have been a very frightening experience for the victims, one of whom sustained minor injury after being assaulted.

“Tackling violence on our streets is a priority for Suffolk Constabulary and these arrests and the subsequent sentences shows our commitment in keeping our communities safe.”
