Suffolk PCC signs oath
Tim Passmore was confirmed as being elected over the weekend
Suffolk's newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner, Tim Passmore, made his declaration of acceptance of office directly after the election result was announced on Saturday May 8 2021.
The oath signing ceremony, at the Water Lane Leisure Centre in Lowestoft, was presided over by the Police Area Returning Officer, Stephen Baker in the presence of Christopher Jackson, Chief Executive of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
Tim Passmore said:
"I am truly honoured to be re-elected as Suffolk's Police and Crime Commissioner for a third term. The result was way beyond my expectations and I am so grateful for all the support and the very kind messages I have received.
"There are exciting and challenging times ahead. I will work with the team to draft a new Police and Crime Plan which will be based on my manifesto commitments. The focus will be on helping Suffolk recover from the effects of the pandemic, increasing visibility and public engagement, rural crime, fraud, hidden harm and supporting young people. The focus on tackling organised crime groups, the illegal drugs trade and anti-social behaviour must continue.
"Lastly I would like to thank everyone for their support and pledge to represent everyone in Suffolk to the best of my ability."
The declaration made by the PCC reads:
"Timothy Henry Weeks Passmore of Thwaite in Suffolk do hereby declare that I accept the office of Police and Crime Commissioner for Suffolk.
"In making this declaration, I solemnly and sincerely promise that during my term of office:
"I will serve all the people of Suffolk in the office of Police and Crime Commissioner.
"I will act with integrity and diligence in my role and, to the best of my ability, will execute the duties of my office to ensure that the police are able to cut crime and protect the public.
"I will give a voice to the public, especially victims of crime, and work with other services to ensure the safety of the community and effective criminal justice.
"I will take all steps within my power to ensure transparency of my decisions, so that I may be properly held to account by the public.
"I will not interfere with the operational independence of police officers."
