A man has appeared in court charged with the murders of his wife and their 12-year-old daughter.

Peter Nash, 46, was hunched over a walking frame as he shuffled into the secure dock at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Monday.

He was not asked to enter pleas to the charges of the murder of Jillu Nash, 43, and their daughter Louise at their home in Heath Estate, Great Waldingfield, Sudbury, Suffolk.

Prosecutors allege that unemployed Nash killed the pair between September 7 and 8.

His daughter was found with a single stab wound to the abdomen.

Suffolk Police said a Home Office post-mortem examination recorded that Tesco worker Ms Nash died of pressure on the neck.

The bearded defendant, who had short white hair and wore a black T-shirt and jogging bottoms, was remanded in custody to appear at Ipswich Crown Court later on Monday.

At the crown court hearing, Judge Martyn Levett adjourned proceedings part-heard after delays.

The hearing will resume at midday on Tuesday at Ipswich Crown Court.
