Suffolk man killed in car crash will be 'forever missed'

The family of a man from Suffolk who died in a collision have released a tribute to him, saying he will be “forever missed by his friends and family”.

66-year-old John Murkin died following a collision in Ardleigh, Essex, in October 2023.

On Thursday 20th March at Chelmsford Crown Court 82-year-old Norman McAndrew of High Street, Colchester, was jailed for three years for causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the fatal collision.

He was also banned for six years and three months after pleading guilty at a previous hearing.

Following the sentencing John’s family paid this tribute: "John was a heating and plumbing engineer for over 30 years, running his own business for 17 of those.

"He was well known for his skilled work gaining many loyal customers and becoming well known in the community.

"John was able to fix pretty much anything, rebuilding motorbikes and cars from young age and was always happy to lend a hand to his friends and family.

"To John bikes were more than just a hobby, he rode bikes throughout his entire life, marshalling at races, doing tours of Europe and using it for his day to day travel.

"John enjoyed life, skiing, cycling, playing golf, visiting family and having a laugh with his friends.

"John had worked hard his entire his life and tragically had it cut short just before retirement.

"John will forever be missed by his friends and family."
