Suffolk heat expert urges people to prepare their house for cold weather

People in Suffolk are being urged to take precautions to keep their houses warm and cosy as the cooler weather sets in.
It's as stats from an energy supplier show 88% of us across the country are worried about rising energy bills, with 47% of Brits holding out on turning their heating on this Autumn.
With winter on the horizon, OVO's Head of Heat Grainne Regan, who's from Suffolk, is urging people in the county to prepare their homes for cold weather.
She says there are easy things we can do to keep energy costs down: "Now is the perfect time before you turn your heating on to bleed your radiators - it can potentially save you £60-£100 off your heating bill.
"If you're not sure how to do it there are lots of helpful guides online...
"I'd also recommend things like reducing your boiler flow temperature."
Grainne also says smart thermostats are worth the investment if you can afford one: "They're brilliant because they do a lot of work for you.
"At the moment, when the weather's going crazy with one day at 20 degrees and the next at 10 degrees, they're great for that because it takes all the work off an individual."
Finally, if you're looking to make a big investment, Grainne suggests investigating installing a heat pump for longer term savings: "A gas boiler lifespan is 10-15 years if you're lucky, whereas a heat pump can last 20-25 years.
"When you look at that lifetime value, it feels a bit like a no brainer."
