Fire crews from across Suffolk called to thatched roof fire

Thirteen fire crews were called to help tackle a thatched roof fire in Hundon in total yesterday evening (6th May).

Suffolk Fire and Rescue was called to Clockhall Lane at 5.33pm after the thatch surrounding the chimney on a cottage caught fire.

Crews from: Clare, Wickhambrook, Haverhill, Long Melford, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Ixworth, Sudbury and Beccles all attended at some point.

Firefighters were able to create a fire breaks around the blaze to limit the spread.

Some crews remained on site after the fire was out to ensure there was no reignition.

The stop message came at 7.31pm.
