Sudbury bakery closes down after owners injured in car crash
Weston's Bakery in Sudbury was also struggling against rising bills
A Suffolk bakery company has permanently closed, with the loss of around 30 jobs.
The owners of Weston's in Sudbury were already struggling with rising costs but the 'final straw' came as a result of a car crash at the end of last week involving the owners.
Owners Chris and Patrick Weston were seriously injured and were left 'shaken' by the incident, which was the result of a head on crash.
The company has already been forced to close a branch at the end of May, again due to rising costs.
In a statement on social media, Liz Weston said: "The universe seems to have been conspiring against us for the last few months and this was the final straw.
"As a family, we are no longer able to continue the fight to keep our doors open.
"We have tried to inform all of our wholesale customers but if you are reading this and we have yet been unable to reach you, we are so sorry for the inconvenience this will cause you.
"We would like to thank you for your loyal custom over the years and wish you all the best with your futures.
"Thank you to all of our customers, many of whom have become friends. We will miss seeing all of you and can’t say enough how much we have appreciated your support.
"To all of our wonderful staff who have worked so hard to help us grow the business and who have really stepped up in our time of need, we thank each and every one of you. Past and Present.
"We are so sorry to have let you down but we know with all the skills, care and work ethic you have shown us, especially in recent months, you will all go on to great things. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you and just wish we could have all continued together.
"As you can imagine, this has been very difficult for everyone involved and we are devastated to have had to make this decision. My parents now need time to heal and recover so I ask that you give them privacy at this time."
