Southwold to lose its last high street bank with Barclays to close
The branch on the High Street will close its doors for the final time in later November
Southwold is to lose its last remaining high street bank, with the closure of the town's Barclay's branch later this year.
The company says just 17 people regularly use the branch, with most now banking online or via phone.
The branch on the High Street will shut its doors for the final time on the 30th of November.
In a document outlining its rationale for closing the branch, Barclays wrote: "We’ll be working with the local community to understand the impact of closing this branch.
"Once we’ve gathered feedback, we’ll publish the results in a booklet called ‘Branch closure feedback’, which you can get from your branch or online at home.barclays/ukbranchclosures"
It's just the latest in a series of bank closures across Suffolk, which had let to fears about access to cash and banking services for some of the most vulnerable.
