Popular Santa Fun Run raising money for Ipswich hospital announces return
Get your running shoes and Santa hats on!
With not that long to go until the big day... the trust that runs Ipswich Hospital has announced the return of its popular Santa Fun Run.
The event, run by Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity, gives participants of all ages and abilities the opportunity to run, walk or jog a 5km or 3km route around Colchester’s Castle Park – all while dressed as Santa.
The run is to fundraise funds for patients, staff and volunteers at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT).
Participants are able to support any ESNEFT hospital, ward, department or appeal, including the cancer wellbeing centre, children’s department, stroke unit or any other area which is close to their heart.
Among those taking part will be Colchester Hospital’s maternity team, who are donning their Santa costumes to raise money for their department.
Kerri Nicoll, specialist perinatal mental health midwife, said: “We want to fund a variety of items to support our patients. This includes creating a lavender pathway, which will protect sleep hygiene for patients who are at a high risk of postnatal depression psychosis, and providing essential baby equipment for our vulnerable patients.”
Cait Pilkington, events manager with Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity, said: “Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun way to get into the holiday spirit, the Santa Fun Run is the perfect event for everyone.
“This jolly event promises to be filled with laughter, joy, and a whole lot of red and white! So grab your friends, family and colleagues, and get ready to make this year's Santa Fun Run the most memorable one yet!”
The Santa Fun Run takes place on Sunday 3 December.
