The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is urging us to be sensible and stay away from the coast this weekend.

An amber warning is in place in Norfolk, thanks to Storm Eunice which is expected to bring winds topping sixty miles per hour over the next few days.

A rare red warning is also in force in part of our region - mainly in Suffolk and Essex.

WATCH: Our reporter Tom Clabon went to catch up with the RNLI ahead of the bad weather:

Sam Every is the RNLI's Water Safety Lifeguard Supervisor for the East: "Our message to everyone is just obviously be sensible, check the weather conditions and just pay attention to where you are going and don't take any risks. Make sure that you are careful and are responsible".

He explains what we should do if something goes wrong: "If you see somebody in difficulty or get into difficulty yourself, we recommend that you float on your back- this being the standard 'float to live position'. Then if you see somebody in difficulty, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard, state where you are and then from there they will task the appropriate team".

He also told us that we shouldn't rush down for a dip at the start of next week either: "If you do want to come down later on that's fine, but if you're not local to the area or know any of the risks, then we advise you stay well clear of the water until everything does start to clear out".
