Two arrested on suspicion of poisoning after man dies on the Norfolk-Suffolk border

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of poisoning, following the sudden death of a man in Weeting, near the border of Norfolk and Suffolk.

Officers were called by paramedics at 10.30pm on Sunday 3 March to reports that two men in their 50s were seriously unwell at a property on Hereward Way.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death is currently being treated as unexplained and police tell us a post-mortem exam will be carried out in the coming days.

The second man was taken to West Suffolk Hospital for treatment, and has since been discharged.

Following more enquiries by police, two men were arrested on suspicion of poisoning yesterday (Tuesday 5 March 2024).

A man in his 40s was arrested in Thetford and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

A man in his 50s was arrested in Weeting and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Both men have been released on bail pending further investigations.
