Dame Judy Dench to star in panto at Bury St Edmunds Theatre Royal
It's her first ever role in a pantomime
Bury St Edmund's Theatre Royal is to welcome acting royalty for this year's pantomime, with Dame Judy Dench set to perform in Snow White.
The British acting legend, 88, will take on the role of The Magic Mirror in her first ever panto role.
Dame Judy is a life patron and long time supporter of the Suffolk venue, which says it is 'honoured' to cast her.
After being cast, Dame Judy said: “It's my idea of heaven, playing a part in pantomime and never having to leave home!
"I am thrilled to be making my pantomime debut in Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds’ Snow White, who knows… next year they might make me a Dame!”
Also starring in Snow White is Beth Tuckey, as wannabe-Queen Lady Lucretia, Craig Painter as castle cleaner Dusty Crevice, Lara Lewis as Snow White and Zachary Pang as Sir Nicholas of Norwich.
Philippa Carson as Gladys the Groom, Peter Baker as Grumble and Lizzie Buckingham as Corky The Corgi complete the cast.
Snow White, the classic tale of a princess exiled by her evil stepmother, is produced in-house by the Theatre Royal team and directed by Owen Calvert-Lyons.
