Overnight closures start on Orwell Bridge

It's to allow for repair work to take place

A series of overnight closures has started on the A14 across the Orwell Bridge, to allow for roadworks and repairs to the crossing.

From last night (September 12) until Friday night (September 16) the bridge is closed eastbound between junctions 35 and 39 from 9pm until 4am.

A diversion is in place via the A1303, A1304 and B1506.

Starting next Monday (September 19) the bridge will be closed westbound between junctions 39 and 35; again between 9pm and 4am.

Traffic will be diverted via the B1506 and A142.

One lane of the A14 will be closed westbound at junction 39 between September 17 and 18.

National Highways is carrying out a series of repairs to the Orwell Bridge, including waterproofing the crossing and replacing parts of the road surface.
