Over £16m worth of funding has been awarded to arts and cultural organisations across Suffolk by Arts Council England.

13 different organisations will split grants of around £5.3m a year after part of the 2023-26 Investment Programme.

It's meant to help cultural groups across the region run more activities and get more people involved in the arts in Suffolk.

Groups including Britten Pears Arts, the New Wolsey Theatre, DanceEast, and Eastern Angles Theatre Company are set to benefit.

There will also be investment into museums and libraries, including the Food Museum (formely the Museum of East Anglian Life) and Suffolk Libraries.

Lowestoft's First Light Festival is also in line for cash for the first time, as is The Seagull Lowestoft Community Interest Company and the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds.

Arts Council England South East Area Director, Hazel Edwards, said: “Today we’re announcing investment in an exciting cohort of creative and cultural organisations across the East of England.

"From libraries, community art centres, museums, theatres, galleries, and more, these organisations will ensure that more people and more places– and particularly those who have been excluded in the past – are able to participate in vibrant and varied cultural activities.

"We’re also ensuring that the organisations we’re investing in enable creativity to thrive in and energise every corner and every community in all of the East of England.”
