Brides and grooms in Norfolk and Suffolk could be heading down the aisle soon, after the Prime Minister revealed his roadmap out of lockdown last night.

It's been a tough time for couples who've had to put their big day on hold, but Boris Johnson has now offered a glimmer of hope - claiming weddings could resume as early as April, although there'll be a maximum of 15 guests allowed.

But limits on the number of guests at weddings could be no more from June 21 - as long as the government's four tests are met.

Kerry Ellis is a wedding planner in Norwich, and owns Epic Event Hire, and say:

"What I'm hoping now, is that the dates can stop moving at such a rate and people can actually enjoy finally getting married and we can start to see some celebrations and ceremonies going ahead.

"It's so exciting to be looking at doing weddings again.

"No matter how small the ceremony is, to actually be doing a wedding is amazing. The overwhelming happiness for people to be trying the knot has made these celebrations wonderful."

Under lockdown restrictions, weddings have only been allowed under exceptional circumstances, such as one person being terminally ill.

The Prime Minister announced from April 12, at the earliest, wedding receptions will be allowed to go ahead with up to 15 people. That number will increase to 30 from May 17 - as long as earlier relaxations are successful.

It's hoped limits on the number of guests at weddings will be scrapped altogether from June 21.

It's been a tough time for the wedding industry too - with everyone from planners to florists struggling to get through the pandemic with celebrations being put on hold.

Kerry added:

"I've likened it to a roller coaster. I like roller coasters but I've definitely wanted to get off this one over the last year.

"I think the hardest bit was the stop, start. When we were going in the right direction, it felt like we just took a step back again. And seeing what it's done to other people in the industry has been tough."
