Suffolk residents and businesses are being invited to have their say on the direction of policing in the county over the next three years.

The Police and Crime Plan is out for consultation, structured into four objectives focusing on effective policing, adequate support for victims of crime, investment, and community engagement.

All police and crime commissioners are obliged to develop a plan within a year of being elected, in conjunction with the constabulary.

Police and Crime Commissioner for Suffolk Tim Passmore said:

‘The reason we’re going out for public consultation is that we are very anxious to hear from people in Suffolk, from homes, businesses, young or old, what they think, and any comments they’ve got would be very welcome.’

A public survey is open to views in relation to the four objectives and gives the opportunity for general observations about Suffolk policing.

Police Commissioner Tim Passmore said:

“As Police and Crime Commissioner, I am the link between local people and the police, and it is really important to me that everyone has the opportunity to be part of the direction I am setting for policing in Suffolk if they wish to do so.

“My aim is, and always has been, to make Suffolk a safer place in which to live, work, travel and invest. The survey is an opportunity for residents to express their views on the draft plan and I can assure everyone who takes part in the survey, all their views and comments will be considered.’

PC Passmore said he was particularly keen to hear people’s suggestions on tackling violence against women and girls.

‘Nobody, certainly not women and girls, should ever feel they can’t walk the streets of Suffolk without the threat of fear and intimidation.’

You can complete the survey here until 9am on Monday 22 November.
