Needham Market FC have made it to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup for the first time in their history.

The Marketmen, who are in the seventh tier of English football, got past National League side Maidstone United 1 - nil at the weekend.

Luke Ingram provided the winning goal for Needham in the first half.

Speaking to the club YouTube channel after the match, boss Kevin Horlock said:

"I knew today was a big day for the football club... we could create history and the players could create history."

"We've won, that's all that matters. I did jokingly say we could have scored more... but I'll take a 1 - nil win.

"This group of players deserve it. They've worked for hard. They're together. There's something special brewing with this group."

Ipswich Town are also in the draw for the First Round Proper, which takes place at 19:15pm tonight.
