Parents and carers in Norfolk and Suffolk are being encouraged to join free workshops to learn how to support young people's mental health.

NSFT's psychology in schools team has been delivering them since the start of the year, helping over 1,800 people according to the trust.

Today (26 April) people can learn how to support teenagers with their emotions, particularly with the impacts Covid-19 has had.

Other workshops taking place until the end of May include supporting young people with sleep, anxiety and low mood.

Dr Beth Mosley, consultant clinical psychologist at NSFT, said:

"There's been an increase in general anxiety for many young people and not just young people, for parents as well. And an increase in low mood, it makes sense because there's more to worry about, there's a huge amount of uncertainty.

"Young people have lost their routines and structures in their lives, which we know is so important to keep their mental health good. For many young people, they've lost the things that are important to them, that give them meaning and purpose.

"We welcome parents and those who support young people to attend these workshops. They're full of advice and opportunities to learn more about the way young people’s brains work and the power of relationships."

People who want to take part in the free workshops can book places via Eventbrite.
