Man sentenced to two years for burglaries in Norfolk and Suffolk
He broke into homes in Hemsby, Scratby and Wrentham
A man's been locked up for over two years for breaking into homes on the Suffolk and Norfolk coasts.
Marcus Stewart, 20, of Middlegate in Great Yarmouth, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court after admitting to four counts of burglary.
He broke into homes in Hemsby and Scratby on Monday 17 January and two properties in Southwold Road in Wrentham on January 13.
One of the homes targeted belonged to an 88 year old woman, who was at home at the time of the break-in celebrating her birthday.
Stewart got in through an open window and stole a large amount of jewellery.
He also forced the back door of a second property on the same road, stealing jewellery and cash.
Five days later Stewart borke into two homes in Hemsby and Scratby.
He'll spend two years and four months in a Youth Offender’s Institution.
He admitted to a further nine offences after being visited by Suffolk Police's Operation Converter team, which secures admissions of guilt so that people can start with a 'clean slate' after leaving prison or detention.
Detective Constable Barry Simpson from Operation Converter said:
"Stewart was visited while on remand in prison because it was clear there were numerous investigations in Norfolk and Suffolk that matched the circumstances of the offences for which he had been charged.
"He made voluntary admissions to further offences."
