RAF Lakenheath servicewoman charged over death of Norfolk man CAN be tried in UK
24 year old Mikayla Hayes is accused of causing the death of motorcylist Matthew Day by careless driving
A judge has ruled that a US servicewoman accused of killing a motorcyclist in Norfolk by careless driving can be tried in the UK.
Deputy senior district judge Tan Ikram ruled that 24 year old Mikayla Hayes, who is based at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, must attend a trial in the UK courts for allegedly causing the death of Matthew Day by careless driving.
Father-of-one Mr Day, 33, died of his injuries after a red Honda Accord car collided with the Yamaha motorbike he was riding on the A10 in Southery, near Downham Market, Norfolk, on August 26.
Hayes elected to be tried by a jury at crown court and entered a not guilty plea following the ruling at Westminster Magistrates' Court.
