Ipswich Witches have been named 2022 Premiership Pairs champions after the cancellation of the final round in Leicester on Monday night.

Witches stood 12 points clear at the top of the table after last week's fixture at Belle Vue.

Ipswich also won meetings at Foxhall, King’s Lynn and Wolverhampton.

The team were represented by Jason Doyle, Danny King, Troy Batchelor and Erik Riss, with Danyon Hume and Anders Rowe featuring as Rising Stars.

Speaking to the Witches website, Promoter Chris Louis said: “After starting with a fifth place in the first round, to go three unbeaten and a second place in the next four, I think it would be hard for anybody to argue that we don’t deserve to win the competition.

“We have used a bit of a squad, obviously Jason has been the mainstay of that and scored a lot of the points, but he’s been backed up by Danny, Troy, Erik and the reserves.

“It’s been a good team effort and the lads fully deserve some silverware.”

After five rounds, Ipswich topped the table on 46 points with runners up Belle Vue trailing on 34 points.

It means Witches have finished this season with some silverware having missed out on the Premiership title last month.
