Ipswich Town 2023/24 Championship fixtures released

They include the first East Anglia derby in four seasons

Ipswich Town's Championship fixtures of 2023/24 have been announced and include the first East Anglian derby against Norwich in four seasons.

Ipswich Town will begin their 2023/24 Championship season away to Sunderland.

The Blues’ trip to the Stadium of Light will kick-off at 5pm on Sunday, 6 August

Kieran McKenna’s side will play their first home game six days later, when Stoke City visit Portman Road.

Town then travel to QPR before hosting Leeds United to complete August.

September includes fixtures against fellow promotion winners Sheffield Wednesday, and Southampton, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Plymouth, who finished first in League One last term, come to Portman Road on 28 October.

The first East Anglian Derby of the season is scheduled for 16 December, with Norwich City making the journey from Norfolk to Suffolk.

The final away fixture before Christmas will take place at Elland Road against Leeds; Leicester City, who fell from the top flight last season, then the visitors for a Boxing Day bout at Portman Road.

QPR at home on Friday, 29 December is the final fixture of the calendar year, before a trip to Stoke on New Year’s Day to kick off 2024.

Town will face Norwich City in the second East Anglian Derby of the campaign on 6 April.

Hull City on 27 April is the Blues’ last away fixture, with Huddersfield on 4 April seeing Town end the season at Portman Road.

Elsewhere, the draw for round one of the Carabao Cup will take place later today. Town are ball number 15 in the Southern Section of the draw.
