An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with a stabbing that left a 16-year-old with serious injuries.

Daniel Neves, of Risby Close, Ipswich was charged on two offences following the attack - one charge of affray and another of possession of an offensive weapon.

Neves appeared at Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (February 2nd) and will remain in police custody until March 2nd, where he will appear at Ipswich Crown Court.

Neves appeared at Ipswich Magistrates' Court in connection with the incident.

A second man, aged 32, who was also arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident, was released on bail until February 28th.

Suffolk Constabulary are continuing to appeal for more information on the incident, which took place on Monday (January 31st).

Officers were called to the St. Matthew's area of the town where they found the 16-year-old victim with a substantial cut to his shoulder.

The victim currently remains in hospital being treated for his injuries, but these are not thought to be life-threatening.

Through police enquiries, it was found that the man had followed the victim and his friend and stabbed the victim after he tripped up whilst running away.

Investigating police believe that the incident was not a random attack and are looking at the potential for motives.
