Work begins on refreshing Ipswich play area
Children will have new equipment to use

Ipswich Borough Council is to start work on refreshing the play area at Ipswich’s Brunswick Park this week.
The play area, for children aged 2 to 7 years old, will have an impact absorbent surface installed to improve safety as well as several new pieces of equipment including swings, slides and springers. A climber for children aged up to 12 years old will also be installed outside of the fenced play area.
The new equipment will provide opportunities for children of all ages and abilities to play together.
Work will begin this week, with the project expected to be completed by the end of September. However, the timescale could change depending on the weather.
Councillor Phil Smart, Ipswich Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Parks, said:
“We’re pleased to be starting work on refreshing the play area at Brunswick Park, it is one of the locations we know residents were keen to see improved. Outdoor play is extremely beneficial to the physical health and wellbeing of children and that’s why investing in our parks and play areas is a priority for us. So far we have fully redeveloped five Ipswich parks – Alexandra, Bourne, Christchurch, Dumbarton Road and Maple Park - and look forward to continuing work across the town.”
