Ipswich man jailed for four years for sexual offences and child abduction
The 20 year old was charged after grooming a teenager in Ipswich earlier this year
An Ipswich man has been jailed for four years after being convicted of child abduction and sexual activity with a child.
20 year old Jay Anderton of Foundation Street was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court yesterday (December 7).
He was found to have groomed a teenage victim in the town earlier this year.
The alarm was raised in June after the victim was reported missing. Anderton was traced to Ipswich Waterfront with the victim later being located nearby.
He has been handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and been told he'll be on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
DC Lauren Patterson of Suffolk Police said: “Anderton was someone who callously and deviously manipulated a vulnerable teenage victim and exploited this vulnerability for his personal, perverted desires."
"This job involved some great team working with the Child Exploitation and Gangs Team, working alongside the Safeguarding Investigations Unit in order to achieve this result and to ultimately safeguard other vulnerable children within the community.
"My thanks go to all my colleagues involved in securing this conviction.”
