Bus from Ipswich heading to Ukraine to act as a mobile blood bank

It's going to be heading out to help those stuck in the invasion

Ipswich Buses says it's going to be sending one of its vehicles over to Ukraine to help with the relief effort following the invasion.

It will act as a mobile blood bank and humanitarian aid bus to help victims of the Russian invasion.

Bus 972 is due to begin its 1500 mile journey early next week, crossing the North Sea from Harwich to the Hook of Holland, before driving across Holland, Germany and Poland to the Ukrainian border.

The bus company says its urgently looking for items to help with the humanitarian effort including: mattresses and bedding, warm clothing, baby milk and dry foods.

Donated goods can be taken to the garage at 7 Constatine Road, Ipswich, IP1 2DL to be loaded onto the bus.

The bus being sent had previously been used as a mobile Covid vaccination centre during the pandemic.
