A man's been jailed for a series of burglaries in Ipswich.

David Dixon, 37, of Fonnereau Road, Ipswich, was sentenced to two years in prison at Ipswich Crown Court yesterday (Thur 2 November), having previously pleaded guilty.

It follows two incidents in August.

The first took place on Tuesday 1 August at Kerala Store in St John’s Road. The back door was forced open and items including cigarettes, alcohol and cash were taken.

The second took place on Wednesday 9 August, when a metal bar was used to force open the shutters of Andrews Jewellers in Buttermarket. A window was smashed and some jewellery was taken from inside.

Following enquires, police arrested Dixon on Friday 11 August on suspicion of burglary.

He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and was subsequently charged.

Dc Aimee Berry of Ipswich CID said: “To see Dixon behind bars will, I hope, give some comfort to the victims – burglary of any type is extremely upsetting for the homeowners and business owners and their staff.

"Dixon will now have plenty of time to reflect on his criminal actions.”
